Stock List

At last, I hope, I have found a way to put a spreadsheet listing onto this WordPress website. So what tries to follow is a list of the telescope collection so far, not in any particular order, just what works.

The columns show my reference number, then the Maker of the telescope, the number of draws, and the material of construction. Basically b is brass, bl is leather covered brass, bp plated brass, w is wooden barrel, Al is Aluminium, c is card, and there is a p for plastic. Dimensions follow, in inches, closed up, extended, and then the diameter of the objective approx.

The next column gives some comments. Then where it says “WEB“, the scope is described in a story on this website. The last column is when the scope was acquired, starting back in 1960, with the Original N+B Petrel, but really starting seriously only in 1995. The chaos started in about 2010, when working hard I had spare money to buy them, but no time to record when, where or what, or how much I paid! This went on till 2015, when I stopped the work, and the money also stopped…. but I carried on collecting.

Selected items from the collection are destined for a museum somewhere, probably near Goonhilly in Cornwall, when my daughter is able to suggest it! Meanwhile most of the rest are to be sold: if you would like to make a reasonable offer please email me on nick (at) nickdenbow.com

The Stock List

OK, the list below is still not a s/sheet proper, but it’s all they can do on WordPress I guess. I’m going to put an x into the columns where I have no data, where it might help!

To repeat, the info gives Accession number/Maker/ Number of draws/wood or brass/length (inch) closed/open/dia of Objective/Comments/(if a story is on the web it says WEB next)/Acquisition date. OOW means “Officer of the Watch”, Naval style.

Alphabetically, all the named scopes:
